Clinical Practitioners – Telephone Triage & Home Visiting Team

(With or without Non-medical prescribing experience)

Open to Nurses, Paramedics and all other allied healthcare professionals

Permanent role- Part Time hours/ Weekend & Bank holiday working:  Based Longbow Close, Shrewsbury

£22.86 - £23.79 per hour Depending on experience

Are you a caring, experienced nurse or allied healthcare professional looking for a change and interested in working in a unique not-for -profit, CQC-rated OUTSTANDING, service?

At Shropdoc we are proud of the out of hours service (OOH) we provide and are currently recruiting additional Healthcare professionals with an enthusiasm and passion for high quality care, to increase our existing team of very friendly and dynamic clinical practitioners across two of our current work streams -Telephone triage and Home visiting out of hours (OOH).

Clinical Practitioners will work alongside our GPs in the call centre based at Longbow in Shrewsbury performing telephone triage, responding to calls passed through the NHS 111 service, as well as referrals from other Professionals from within the community setting. Whilst Clinical Practitioners based at our main Shropdoc bases at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals, will respond to home visits when necessary in one of our distinctive livered ‘Shropdoc’ cars with a driver provided.

Shropdoc is an OOH service covering both Shropshire and Powys. Both work streams require the clinician to have the ability to cover evenings and overnights on weekdays, 24/7 at weekends and Bank Holidays.

We are particularly interested in hearing from healthcare professionals with a primary or urgent care background, however training and development is provided and we are more interested in people with the right attitude and approach to work rather than specific experience.

The Clinician must be both reliable, dependable and seeking a new challenge, have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the confidence to work autonomously, making decisions without direct supervision, that said, support would never be far away when you need it.

The clinician will have the opportunity to expand their current knowledge, utilise current skills and progress their career within the unscheduled primary and urgent care setting.

Shropdoc’s mission is to keep the patient at the heart of all that we do’. We aim to achieve excellence in the care we offer to our patients, providing a safe and high-quality service that is easily accessible. We are well-established, having been in operation for over 25 years, with a reputation and belief in our values that will make you proud to say you are part of our team.

In return we offer:

  • Depending on experience and qualifications a rate of £22.86 - £23.79 per hour with a 30% uplift for evenings, nights and Saturdays, and 60% uplift for Sundays and Bank Holidays.
  • Membership of the NHS pension scheme (subject to scheme rules).
  • A generous annual leave allowance.
  • Flexible, ad-hoc shifts, with web booking system
  • ‘Paycare’ Health Cash Plan (free at level 1 with options to add extra cover for a small extra monthly payment)
  • Annual staff appraisal and one-to- one sessions
  • A hands on training approach in the chosen work stream, with opportunity to train in Shropdocs other work streams too.
  • A robust and well-supported Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) environment.

All colleagues are encouraged and fully supported to work towards clinical development aspirations, such as prescribing (where not already held). Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is important to Shropdoc. We offer regular training and development sessions to safely maintain and increase professional growth, using gap analysis to help identify training needs, offering regular clinical supervision and development time flexibly to all clinical staff inline with the service needs.
